Setting up the level system

The level system rewards active members with experience points (XP) for chat activity and optionally assigns roles automatically when they level up.

1. Enable the module

Enable the level system for your server in the "Modules" section. For message detection it requires the "Message Content Intent" (with your own bots you need to enable this yourself in the Developer Portal).

2. XP configuration

In the "Levels" section you define how much XP is awarded per message and how long the cooldown between two XP awards per member is – this prevents members from artificially levelling themselves up by spamming messages. You can also customise the message that is posted when someone levels up (including placeholders for the name and the new level).

3. Assigning level roles

Under "Level roles" you link particular levels to Discord roles – if a member reaches level 10, for example, they automatically receive the matching role. You can create as many tiers as you like and delete roles again if needed; roles that have already been assigned are not withdrawn retroactively as a result.

4. Leaderboard

The leaderboard shows all members of your server sorted by XP, available page by page both in the dashboard and via the corresponding Discord command. That way your members can see at a glance how they compare to others.

5. Manual adjustment

For special cases (for example to compensate after a technical problem or as a reward for an event) you can manually adjust individual members' XP totals in the dashboard – the change is logged.

Interaction with other modules

Level-ups can be used as triggers for automations, for example to send a congratulations message automatically or to assign an additional role. The battle pass feature (if enabled) can also include missions that build on level progress.

Practical tips

• Choose the cooldown and XP per message so that levelling up feels like

the result of genuine activity, not merely of time passing.

• Assign level roles sparingly and with a clear meaning, so that they

remain a recognisable distinction for members.

• Make active use of the leaderboard in your community, for instance by

regularly mentioning the top members.
